In the wake of the car bomb blast in New Delhi on Monday, and the four-day International Aalami Tablighi Iztima, which is set to begin on November 14 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh was put on a high security alert.

Lakhs of Muslim devotees from across the world and India will start arriving in Bhopal for the annual Iztima religious congregation, which will take place in an area spread over 600 acres at Eintkhedi on the outskirts of Bhopal from 14 to 17 November.

Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana held a video conference with the SPs and IGs of all districts on Tuesday to assess the security arrangements across the state.

The police intensified patrolling and security checks all over the Bhopal district in particular. Security has also been beefed up at other cities, including Indore, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.

Security has been heightened at major railway stations and bus stands, with passengers’ luggage screened using scanners, metal detectors, and dog squads.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the state’s Government Railway Police (GRP) are carrying out special checking drives of all trains, especially the ones coming from the New Delhi side.
