The Ministry of Women and Child Development has extended the deadline for submitting applications for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP). The last date for online submission is now August 15, revised from the earlier deadline of July 31.
In a statement issued today, the Ministry stated that the application process began on April 1 through the National Awards Portal. Any child aged above 5 years and not exceeding 18 years (as on July 31, 2025), who is an Indian citizen residing in India, is eligible for the award.
The PMRBP is conferred upon children for their exceptional achievements. It is the highest civilian honour for children in India, awarded annually to those aged between 5 and 18 years for their outstanding abilities and accomplishments in seven categories: bravery, art and culture, environment, innovation, science and technology, social service, and sports.
The awards, announced on December 26 on the occasion of ‘Veer Bal Diwas’, are presented by the President of India at a special ceremony held every January. While the number of awardees is typically limited to 25 each year, the National Selection Committee has the discretion to relax this limit, if deemed appropriate.
