Malaysia to procure 5,00,000 metric tonnes of white rice from India
Malaysia is set to submit a request to India to procure an additional 5,00,000 metric tonnes of white rice, the country’s agriculture minister said.
Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Monday congratulated Dr Mahathir Mohamad on being sworn in as Malaysia’s 7th Prime Minister.
Dalai Lama congratulated him on the historic victory of Pakatan Harapan (Alliance of Hope) coalition in the national elections and his anointment as the Prime Minister. “The votes of the people have brought about a change and demonstrated how well-rooted democracy is in Malaysia,” he said.
He said he had fond memories of his visit to Malaysia in 1982 and he is pleased to inform that these days, he met many Malaysian friends who come to India on pilgrimage.

“I appreciate the interest and support many of them show to my efforts to encourage the cultivation of fundamental human values such as compassion, as well as the promotion of harmony among our religious traditions,” he said.
