The Vivekananda Central Library at the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) inaugurated a two-day book exhibition aimed at fostering a vibrant academic and research culture among students, faculty, and researchers. The exhibition will continue till October 9, 2025.

The event was formally inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kshiti Bhusan Das, who emphasized the enduring importance of books in an age dominated by social media. “Books provide a vast repository of knowledge and empower students and researchers to move in the right direction,” he said. “Reading good books in one’s field can give a substantial boost to research and innovation in the country.”

Prof. Das appreciated the dedication of the university library team, whose meticulous planning and coordination made the exhibition possible. He also highlighted that the event reflected CUJ’s commitment to nurturing a dynamic learning environment.

The exhibition, organized under the leadership of Dr. Sujit Kumar Pandey, University Librarian, provided an opportunity for attendees to select books for the university library. “Students, researchers, and professors can choose books of their interest, which will then be procured by the university,” Dr. Pandey said. He added that the initiative aimed to encourage a strong academic reading culture and promote access to modern learning resources.

Dr. Shambhu Raj Upadhyay, Deputy Librarian, noted that the exhibition also aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020, supporting holistic and research-oriented education. Over 100 publishers, including global names such as Elsevier, Oxford University Press, SAGE, Pearson, and Routledge, participated. Twenty stalls were set up, showcasing books across multiple subjects, making it a one-stop platform for academics to explore the latest scholarly resources.

The exhibition drew attention from professors, non-teaching staff, and students, who appreciated the rare opportunity to access world-class publications under one roof. Prof. Kunj Bihari Panda, NAAC Cell Chairman, along with Prof. Bhagwan Singh, Prof. A. K. Padhy, Dr. Soumen Dey, and Dr. Nagpawan Chintalapati, were also present at the event.

As students and researchers engaged with the diverse collection, the exhibition stood as a testament to CUJ’s commitment to fostering knowledge, research, and innovation. By bridging access to global academic resources with local learning initiatives, the university seeks to cultivate a culture of inquiry, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
