Criminal with reward on head killed in Saharanpur encounter

A criminal with a reward of Rs 25 thousand was killed in an encounter in Saharanpur on Saturday night while his brother and a villager also sustained bullet injuries in the shootout. In a separate operation, another criminal was arrested from the Bhopa area of Muzaffarnagar.

The slain criminal, Adnan alias Moosa, was a resident of village Shivdaspur of Saharanpur. On Saturday night, a Police party raided the house of Moosa following a tip. Moosa tried to escape through a sugarcane field along with his brother Nauman. In this bid, he opened fire on the cops who also fired back and followed him.

In the exchange of fire, Moosa and Nauman sustained bullet injuries. A villager Shahzad was also injured by the bullets fired by Moosa. The injured were immediately taken to a hospital where doctors declared Moosa dead while Nauman and Shahzad are undergoing treatment.

The Saharanpur Kotwali police had arrested some criminals in connection with the case of loot. The arrested criminals in their statement to the police revealed that Moosa was involved in the loot. They told the police that Moosa is presently staying at his house in village Shivdaspur. Thereafter the raid was conducted.

According to SSP of Saharanpur Dinesh Kumar, Moosa had a reward of Rs 25 thousand and was booked in many cases registered at Saharanpur Kotwali and other police stations.

The police are now checking the criminal record of Moosa while his brother Nauman has no criminal record.

In another crackdown by the Muzaffarnagar police, another criminal, Parvendra alias Bhoora, was arrested following an encounter at Bhokerhedi Road of Bhopa area. Parvendra was involved in cases of loot and police recovered some gold jewellery, a country made pistol and live cartridges from his possession.
