The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to launch a nationwide campaign against the “anti-people” policies of the BJP-led NDA government. The party’s highest executive body, the Central Committee, has taken a formal pledge to sustain resistance until several controversial laws are repealed.
The three-day meeting of the CPI(M) Central Committee, held in Thiruvananthapuram, focused on the Union government’s recent legislative shifts in labor and agriculture. The party is particularly opposed to the newly notified four labor codes and the replacement of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) with the Vishwakarma Bhagwan Gramin Rozgar Yojana (VB-GRAMG).
“We stand with the mass of the people and resolve to work unitedly to resist all anti-agricultural worker, anti-farmer, and anti-worker policies of the NDA government till they are all repealed,” the pledge stated.
General Secretary M A Baby emphasized the need for the party to consolidate its strength and forge unity with secular and democratic forces to counter the “corporate-communal nexus”. The party aims to defend its bastion in Kerala and regain ground in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Assam in the 2026 assembly polls.
