A six-member delegation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), led by General Secretary M A Baby, departed for Beijing on Tuesday, at the invitation of the International Department of the Communist Party of China. The delegation will be in China until September 30, 2025, engaging in discussions with the Communist Party of China’s leadership, according to a party statement here.
The delegation led by Baby includes Politbureau members Mohd Salim, Jitendra Chaudhury, R Arun Kumar, and Central Committee members K Hemalata and C S Sujatha.
The visit is part of the ongoing party-to-party exchanges between the CPI(M) and the CPC, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation. The talks are expected to cover various topics of mutual interest, including political, economic, and social issues.
The CPI(M) delegation’s visit comes amid a backdrop of evolving India-China relations, with both countries working to improve ties after recent border tensions. In December 2024, India and China held their 23rd meeting of Special Representatives in Beijing, focusing on resolving the long-standing border dispute. National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval led the Indian delegation, while Foreign Minister Wang Yi represented China.
