A revision petition filed by AAP leader Satyendar Jain in connection with a defamation case filed by him against BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj has been dismissed by the Special Judge Rouse Avenue Courts on Thursday.
Last year, Jain had filed a complaint before the court alleging that Swaraj had called him corrupt, alleging recovery of cash and gold from his premises.
The criminal defamation complaint filed by Jain was, however, dismissed by the concerned magistrate in December last year and thereafter, the AAP leader had filed a revision petition before the Special Judge, Rouse Avenue Court challenging the order dated 16.12.2024.
On Thursday, the court said in the light of the foregoing analysis, it finds itself in full concurrence with the conclusions arrived at by the trial court, to the effect that sufficient ground does not exists to justify the invocation of jurisdiction for taking cognizance of the offence as defined and punishable under the Section 356 of BNS.
“Accordingly, the instant revision petition is dismissed,” the order announced in the open court.
