With just 3 days left ahead of its June 15 commercial launch, Noida International Airport successfully completed its final full-scale ORAT turnaround trial with IndiGo, putting the airport’s operational ecosystem through a comprehensive end-to-end test.
According to the Noida International Airport authorities on Thursday, everything from aircraft docking and boarding bridges to baggage systems, cargo handling, catering, refuelling, and navigation procedures, the exercise validated the readiness of infrastructure, systems, and stakeholders have been tested.
In addition, the instrument landing system (ILS) has also been revalidated for safe landings even in inclement weather.
They say that the airport is now preparing to welcome its first scheduled passengers in just a few hours.
IndiGo will launch its flight from June 15 abd it will connect Noida International Airport with Amritsar, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Lucknow in the first phase . The first flight will land in the airport coming from Lucknow.
The first phase of Noida International Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28, last.
Noida International Airport is among the largest greenfield airport projects in India. Phase I of Noida International Airport has been developed at a total investment of around Rs 11,200 crore under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The airport will initially have a passenger handling capacity of 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA), with scalability up to 70 MPPA upon full development. It features a 3,900-meter runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft, along with modern navigation systems including Instrument Landing System (ILS) and advanced airfield lighting to support efficient, all-weather, round-the-clock operations.
The Noida International Airport’s inauguration would also help in easing congestion at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
