Incessant rains in Uttarakhand have forced the Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) administration to suspend safaris until further notice to ensure the safety of tourists.

CTR director Saket Badola said that tiger safaris were suspended on Tuesday in the Garjia, Dhela, and Jhirna tourism areas of the reserve for an indefinite period. Tourists frequent these zones from dawn to dusk during tiger safaris. “A decision to this effect was made to proiritise tourist safety in view of repeated heavy rain weather alerts issued by the administration,” Badola said.

Badola said that weather conditions are currently highly unpredictable, and it would be unsafe to venture inside the tiger reserve. The park administration will resume safaris once the weather conditions return to normal.

Corbett Tiger Reserve attracts millions of domestic and international tourists each year to sight wildlife such as tigers, elephants, leopards, and other rare animals. “However, jungle trails often turn slippery and rivers swell, posing serious threats to both tourists and safari vehicles. Safety is the top priority of the park administration, which is why we have temporarily suspended safaris in CTR,” the Corbett Director added.
