Minutes after Congress president Rahul Gandhi claimed that he needs only 15 minutes in the parliament and he can make Prime Minister Narendra Modi “run away”, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hit back in very strong words.

Party president Amit Shah took to his social media handles to issue a strong rebuttal to Gandhi’s accusations in New Delhi in which the 47-year-old Congress chief claimed that the BJP has been attacking Dalits and the Constitution.

“Our institutions which are an outcome of our Constitution today need to be saved from the onslaught of the Congress Party. The Congress Party has spared no institution and is attacking the EC, Supreme Court, Army for petty political gains,” he wrote on Twitter.

In a long statement, ‘Saving the Constitution or Saving Dynasty?’, on Facebook, Shah attacked the Congress on a series of controversial events since 1947.

He said that Gandhi should stop his “theatrics and aggression at the earliest” accusing the grand old party of “spreading hate and divisions in our society”.

Shah said that Congress’ recent protests are increasingly making it clear that “their Modi hatred is turning into India hatred”.

“Blinded by disdain for the Prime Minister, they are using the choicest of words and phrases to show India in bad light,” he wrote.

The 53-year-old chief of the saffron party also took a dig at Congress’ nationwide ‘Save the Constitution’ campaign launched from Talkatora stadium in New Delhi today.

Calling it both “ironical and comical”, Shah alleged that it is the Congress which has been trampling the Constitution in “letter and spirit” since 1947.

Shah recalled the Emergency under Indira Gandhi in 1975 when “the entire Constitution was hijacked and held hostage to the whims and fancies of one leader”.

He also mentioned a series of incidents when state governments were dismissed by the Centre during the Congress rule.

Shah also accused Gandhi of insulting Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

“It is well known how Pandit Nehru personally ensured the defeat of Dr Ambedkar in not one but two elections,” Shah said.

Reacting to the impeachment motion led by the Congress against the Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Shah said that it is “part of a larger trend to demonise and weaken every institution that seeks to maintain its individual identity and not kowtow to the Dynasty”.

Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu rejected the impeachment notice signed by 64 MPs and seven formr members of seven Opposition parties citing lack of substantial merit in it.

Shah listed a series of controversial incidents from the time of the UPA government including the age-row of former Indian Army chief and now MoS External Affairs Gen VK Singh (Retd) and the CAG following the scams.

“In the last four years, when the Congress has been facing defeat after defeat, the party is now training its guns (not the Bofors kind) on the Election Commission,” alleged Shah.

“Congress party represents all forms of corruption that are prevalent in our society,” alleged Shah.
