Former Congress leader and seer of Kalki Peeth in Sambhal Pramod Krishnan alleged that the Congress party’s lone agenda was to malign the image of innocent chief ministers of Opposition-ruled states and said there is a conspiracy to change demography of Uttarakhand.

Speaking at a book release function on the life of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Raj Bhawan in Dehradun on Thursday, Krishnan, now a BJP leader, said, “When Dhami became chief minister for the first time I was in the Congress party. I was also an advisor at that time. Congress party’s one point agenda was to target the chief ministers who were blameless. You all know why?”

Pramod Krishnan, who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls on a Congress ticket against Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from Lucknow. In 2014, Krishnan won from Sabhal as Congress MP. Later in 2024, after being expelled by the party, he joined the BJP..

Pramod Krishnan further said, “The Uttarakhand Congress party was opposing Pushkar Singh Dhami in the assembly those days. I was asked for my views on the Congress party’s opposition to Dhami. I refuse publicly to speak against any chief minister just because he was from the Opposition. I will not make any absurd statement against Pushkar Singh Dhami,” said Krishanan, adding, “Delhi expressed its anguish against me. I was asked to deny the statement and apologise.”

He said he did not follow what the Congress’ Central leadership wanted him to do.

Pramod Krishnan stated that the issue of demographic change in Uttarakhand was not a natural process but a well-planned move by certain elements. He, however, said Chief Minister Dhami and his government are strong enough to deal with them. However, “India has to unite against it” , said Krishnan.

The Opposition in the country is trying to balkanise India on caste, regional, religious and linguistic lines, he averred.

The book titled ‘The Vibrant Heat of the Himalayas Pushkar Dhami’ was released by Uttarakhand Governor Gurmeet Singh in the presence of former chief minister and Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and renowned seer Chidanand Saraswati. The book, written by a young writer, Sambhawana Pant from Kumaon, strolls through the life of Pushkar Singh Dhami from his childhood to his becoming of chief minister of Uttarakhand in 13 chapters and more than 300 pages.
