The Indian National Congress high command will officially announce the next Chief Minister of Kerala on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the decision on the Kerala Chief Minister would be made public by 10 am on Thursday.
Jairam Ramesh confirmed that all leadership deliberations in New Delhi had concluded, bringing an end to the 11-day deadlock following the alliance’s major electoral victory.
The consensus reportedly emerged after a crucial high-level meeting between Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi.
The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) secured a commanding victory in the Assembly elections, winning 102 out of 140 seats and unseating the long-ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF).
The intense three-way contest among V. D. Satheesan, K. C. Venugopal, and Ramesh Chennithala significantly delayed the Chief Ministerial announcement.
The Congress high command, including Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, held multiple rounds of marathon discussions in New Delhi over the past several days to resolve the leadership deadlock.
