Congress leader KC Venugopal Saturday lashed out at the BJP, accusing the party of deflecting attention from its own failures by blaming the Congress. Venugopal’s remarks come after Rahul Gandhi’s comments on the government’s economic policies and democratic system drew flak from the BJP.
“The BJP’s habit is to blame the Congress for its own failures bringing us international shame. Whether it is said in Colombia or Kanpur, the reality remains the same – India’s government has failed to harness the vast potential of our economy and is undoing our demographic dividend,” KC Venugopal said in a post on X.
“Our democratic system being hijacked is a matter that has brought us disrepute across the world, courtesy the BJP itself. It is a stale, hackneyed and misdirected tactic by the BJP ecosystem to attack Rahul ji for speaking plainly,” he added.
The controversy began when Rahul Gandhi made comments on the government’s economic policies and democratic system, which the BJP perceived as critical. The party has since been attacking Rahul Gandhi over his remarks, with Venugopal accusing it of hypocrisy.
Venugopal hit back at the BJP, pointing out that Narendra Modi had used his foreign visits to attack the Congress and insult India and its people, both before and after becoming Prime Minister. “It is therefore plain hypocrisy for the BJP to now question Rahul ji, for merely exposing the misrule, corruption and undemocratic character of the BJP,” he said.
Venugopal’s remarks also highlighted the government’s failure to harness India’s economic potential and its impact on the country’s demographic dividend. This criticism comes amid concerns about India’s economic growth and the government’s ability to address pressing issues.
