Uttarakhand BJP president Mahendra Bhatt said the Congress party, which did not speak out against a multi-crore scam at a Dargah in Uttar Pradesh, has no right to criticize the Ram Temple scandal in Ayodhya.

He said the Congress party cannot speak on irregularities of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Trust regarding missing donations because it did not even honour the invitation to participate in the temple’s consecration ceremony.

Replying to a question on the allegations, Bhatt said, “Congress and other opposition parties did not issue a single statement regarding the recent multi-crore corruption scandal involving funds to the Ghazi Peer Dargah in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. The Congress party remained tight-lipped about the scam in the Dargah donation fund for fear of losing minority votes. They don’t have the right to speak on the Ram Temple issue because the SIT is probing it, and the facts will become clear in the coming days.”

He further said that Congress shielded the government that ordered firing on Ram devotees and dismissed not one but three state governments for Muslim appeasement after the disputed structure was brought down. The party that promised in Parliament to rebuild the Babri Mosque is pretending to be concerned about the temple offerings in Ayodhya.”

Speaking of Congress’s history of appeasement and anti-Hindutva stance, the Uttarakhand BJP chief and Rajya Sabha member said, “People in India have not forgotten who persistently opposed the construction of the Ram Temple. The Congress fielded its top lawyer-leaders in the court to stall the temple’s construction. It was also a Congress government at the Centre that submitted an affidavit to the court denying the existence of Lord Shri Ram. Besides, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court to delay the Ram Mandir verdict solely to prevent the BJP from gaining political mileage.”

Bhatt attacked the Congress party’s top leadership and their intentions, saying, “This is the same Congress whose top leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, did not deem it necessary to attend the sacred consecration of the Ram Temple despite receiving due invitation from the Trust. Their top leaders did gather courage to visit Ayodhya for the ceremony as they did not want to be seen against their politics of appeasement. Those for whom politics matters above faith in Sanatan are today spreading lies, confusion and rumors under the guise of Hindu faith.”
