Senior Congress leader, Rajya Sabha MP, and Deputy Leader of the Opposition Pramod Tiwari arrived in the pilgrimage city of Vrindavan on Sunday.
He offered ceremonial prayers and performed darshan at the Thakur Banke Bihari Temple. He was accompanied by former MLA Pradeep Mathur, Uttar Pradesh Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana “Mona” Mishra, and other local Congress leaders. After the puja, he prayed for the protection of the country’s Constitution.
Speaking to the media, Pramod Tiwari launched a sharp attack on the central government. He alleged that the country’s Constitution is under threat.
“Only the Congress can fight against the attempts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to undermine the Constitution. Regional parties can also survive only if they stand firmly with the Congress. Only the Congress has the capability to thwart the BJP’s plans,” he said.
Questioning election results in several states, including West Bengal and Assam, Tiwari alleged that victories were achieved by “murdering democracy.” In a sarcastic remark, he said that the same people whom Modi once targeted over corruption are now part of governments supported by the BJP.
Pramod Tiwari also commented on the growing tensions between the BJP and the RSS. He claimed that the Modi-Shah leadership was sidelining old and dedicated RSS workers and appointing “borrowed” leaders from outside as Chief Ministers.
“This rift between the BJP and the RSS will become fully visible by 2029. The current situation clearly indicates that Narendra Modi will be removed from the post of Prime Minister before 2029,” he said.
Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana “Mona” Mishra described the policies of both the state and central governments as anti-people. She said that the public now wants change and that the Congress is emerging as a strong alternative.
