BJP MP Sambit Patra on Thursday accused India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru of being a “compromised chacha” under foreign influence. The remarks came after Congress’ repeated accusations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being “compromised” after the India-US interim trade deal.
Patra also alleged that the Opposition party encouraged social media users to post against the AI Impact Summit with monetary benefits. “People have shared messages from Congress leaders offering money to tweet or make reels critical of the Summit,” Patra claimed.
Addressing media persons, he said: “Today, we want to reveal who the real compromiser is. In this context, Nehru’s name comes first in this entire series. How Nehru was compromised and how the compromise of Nehru compromised the country. The CIA had such a strong presence in the secretariat of ‘compromised chacha’, that his special assistant or special secretary, whose name was M.O. Mathai, was called an American agent and in the 1960s, agents of the KGB, which is a Russian agency, were also present in the office of chacha compromised,” Patra said.
The BJP leaders alleged that sensitive documents were made accessible to the US and the Soviet Union. “Any document the foreign dispensation needed was readily available for the US and Russia, why was national security made so hollow that secret documents were handed over to foreign hands,” he asked.
He also criticised Nehru’s handling of the Gwadar port, saying the Sultan of Oman had offered it to India in 1958, but Nehru declined. Patra claimed that while India was facing consequences from Nehru’s decisions, Gwadar was benefitting China and Pakistan. He also alleged possible external incentives behind Nehru’s alleged concessions to China and Pakistan. “Was there some big reward behind it? Was Nehru bribed? Is this something the Congress should answer today?” he wondered.
