Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has leveled serious allegations against the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing it of direct involvement in large-scale voter fraud.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament on Friday, Gandhi claimed that the Congress has “open-and-shut proof” of the alleged theft, which he said was aimed at benefiting the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
Alleging that votes are being stolen, and the ECI is enabling this theft, the Congress leader claimed that a six-month-long investigation by the party uncovered evidence that amounts to an “atom bomb,” which would have severe implications for the ECI.
Gandhi warned that the actions of the ECI are “no less than treason” and vowed to take action against those involved.
The Congress leader threatened to take action against ECI officials involved in the alleged voter fraud, saying, “Whoever in the Elections Commission is involved in this exercise, right from top to bottom, we will not spare you.”
The Congress leader warned that the ECI’s actions would have severe consequences, saying, “When this atom bomb explodes, you won’t see the Election Commission in the country.”
The allegations come amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, which has been a point of contention between the Congress and the BJP. The SIR exercise aims to update voter rolls, but the Congress has raised concerns about potential voter suppression and manipulation.
