The Opposition Congress on Tuesday walked out from the Madhya Pradesh Assembly on the second day of the ongoing Monsoon Session alleging attacks on public representatives, and registration of false cases against them.
Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar charged that attacks on MLAs were taking place across the state. He said the state government and police were not taking any action against the accused.
Singhar told Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who is also the home minister, that it is the state government’s duty to safeguard the members of the House. He said if the government fails to provide security to MLAs, it will be held accountable.
The Opposition leader also claimed that false FIRs had also been registered against certain MLAs of the Congress.
Meanwhile, the Speaker asked Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Jagdish Devda to present some information and details related to the state commercial taxes department.
The Congress MLAs got enraged at that, and charged that the state government does not want to respond to even such an important matter.
The Congress MLAs subsequently staged a walk out from the House.
