RAIPUR, 26 JUNE: Almost a month after Maoists ambushed a Congress convoy of several top leaders, the party is still stuck with the theory of a “political conspiracy” into the attack that took 30 lives.
Ruling BJP today slammed the “grand old party” for
sending “mixed signals” to Maoists instead of mulling a concrete strategy to contain the menace. Reacting to a comment by Union Minister Jairam Ramesh , BJP general secretary and in-charge of Chhattisgarh affairs, Mr Jagat Prakash Nadda (file photo), today lashed out at the Congress for its “superficial approach” towards Maoism. The then governments of Motilal Vora and Digvijay Singh failed to tackle the Maoist menace during the 80s and 90s, he alleged.
“The Maoist menace did not occur in a day but it was born during the 50 years of Congress rule. The Congress government did not formulate any strategy to fight the Maoists. Instead they kept sending mixed signals to the ultras,” Mr Nadda said.
On one hand Prime Minister alleges that states are not serious in tackling Maoism, on the other hand non-Congress ruled states are discriminated when it comes to distribution of resources to tackle Maoism, he said.
On Mr Ramesh&’s charge of political conspiracy, the BJP general secretary asked the Union Minister to immediately submit the evidences of a conspiracy to the Judicial Commission appointed by the state government to probe the Darbha attack.
