Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Tuesday met Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and emphasized the need for a productive session of the Upper House of Parliament starting July 21.
“The Opposition wants a productive Rajya Sabha session from July 21st. For that to happen a number of strategic, political, foreign policy and socio-economic issues that are of great public concern need to be debated and discussed,” Kharge said in a post on handle X after meeting Dhankhar.
“Today, I called on the Hon’ble Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and had a fruitful conversation,” he said.
During the meeting, Kharge highlighted that crucial strategic, political, foreign policy, and socio-economic issues affecting the public need thorough debate and discussion.
The upcoming Rajya Sabha session is expected to be crucial, with several pressing issues requiring attention and debate. The opposition’s push for a productive session reflects their commitment to addressing public concerns and holding the government accountable.
Kharge has previously expressed concerns about the functioning of the Rajya Sabha under Chairman Dhankhar, accusing him of partiality and targeting opposition leaders.
In December, Kharge criticized Dhankhar for his “partisan behaviour” and claimed that “politics has taken precedence over rules” in the Upper House.
