Accusing BJP’s Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar of making demeaning comments against her, BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, on Tuesday, alleged that concerned over BRS making forays into national politics, the BJP is suffering from brain damage.

At a time when Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is in Delhi for the inauguration of the BRS headquarters, Kavitha slammed the BJP leaders saying they were concerned over the entry of BRS in national politics since this could emerge as an alternative at the Centre to BJP.

She said, “The BJP leaders were suffering from brain damage with the arrival of BRS.”

Meanwhile in Delhi, Rao visited the under construction party office at Vasant Vihar. On 14 December, he will inaugurate the party office at rented premises and leaders of other parties such as SP’s Akhilesh Yadav and RJD’s Tejaswi Yadav were expected to be present. A Raja Shyamala homam was performed to remove obstacles on the path of the new entity.

Kavitha said Rao would need divine power for BRS and the party will be the platform for the unity of Opposition. “We will fight together with the anti BJP parties, our aim is to oust BJP,” she said adding that the people of Telangana will also defeat BJP.

BRS will expand to all states, including Andhra Pradesh, said the MLC pointing out that the party will decide its strategy suited to the needs of a particular state.

The ex MP from Nizamabad said the language employed by BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar against her were insulting and similar to the comments made  by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. She was deeply hurt by the comments made by the BJP leader during his padayatra.

Kavitha accused BJP leaders of making such comments towards women pointing out that it showed how little they valued women. She also criticised Bandi Sanjay for his remarks over Bathukkamma, a key festival in Telangana. Kavitha who founded the cultural wing of TRS – Telangana Jagruthi – had made Bathukamma celebrations popular not only in Telangana but among Telugu diaspora. Bandi Sanjay had said that she performed disco bathukamma in a jibe aimed at Kavitha.

In retaliation, Bandi Sanjay chose to remind Kavitha how the chief minister had trampled on human rights and on the media during his reign in Telangana. Kavitha had given a call to poets and intellectuals to unite against BJP which was throttling the voice of the people. He also wondered why the womenfolk of Telangana should cry if Kavitha goes to jail.
