Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has asked officials to complete preparations for the 2027 Haridwar Kumbh by October. He directed that the exercise must be done in coordination with the All India Akhara Council.

“All infrastructural development works of Kumbh 2027 in Haridwar must be completed by October 2026. Construction projects should adhere to the deadline, keeping in mind the specific requirements of the Kumbh. Special attention must be given to the quality of construction, and files related to Kumbh 2027 must not remain pending in the government,” Dhami said.

The Chief Minister warned, “Accountability of the officials will be fixed for delays in the works, and suitable legal action will follow if necessary.” He added that his government’s priority is to organise a mega, divine, and successful Kumbh Festival 2027.

Dhami also ordered a structural audit of bridges in the Kumbh area and directed renovation of all ghats to facilitate smooth and easy bathing for the devotees.

He emphasised that preparations must be made in consultation with the Akhara Council, and that land allotments to Akharas must be completed on time, with the Mela officer personally monitoring the process. The CM asked the Mela officer to maintain close coordination with Akharas, Maths, the saint community, and local religious leaders to ensure thorough preparations.

Dhami ordered officials to launch an intensive campaign against encroachments to ensure smooth traffic flow in the Kumbh area and prevent any risk of stampedes or crowd-related hazards for devotees.
