Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has said that the growing coaching culture is hindering the realization of the goals and targets set by the National Education Policy (NEP). He noted that this trend is also causing significant stress for students and their parents.

Delivering the convocation address at the 4th convocation of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Kota, on Saturday, Dhankhar remarked that the coaching system is “robotising” students, leading to various psychological issues.

The Vice President also questioned the logic behind aggressive publicity campaigns and high-budget advertisements by coaching institutions. “Where is this money coming from?” he asked.

Referring to the tragic instances of student suicides in Kota, Dhankhar said, “Those students who gave up in the battle for life were perhaps unaware of the numerous opportunities available in fields such as space science, the blue economy, and cyber security.”

He urged coaching institutions to evolve into “skill centers” that empower students for diverse career paths.

Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade also addressed the graduating students. State Education Minister Madan Dilawar and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The Vice President also awarded gold medals to toppers in various streams and courses.
