CM Yogi pays tribute to Chaudhary Charan Singh, calls him ‘messiah of farmers’

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid a heartfelt tribute to former Prime Minister ‘Bharat Ratna’ Chaudhary Charan Singh on his death anniversary on Friday.

CM Yogi laid a wreath at his statue in the Vidhan Bhavan. In his address, the Chief Minister described former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh as a great son of Mother India and a messiah of farmers.

The Chief Minister said, “Chaudhary Charan Singh was born on December 23, 1902, in Uttar Pradesh. He was deeply involved in the country’s independence movement and pioneered numerous reforms in agriculture and revenue. He firmly believed that the path to national development lies through our villages, farms, and barns.”

The Chief Minister said that farmers should be part of the development agenda and the government’s priorities. Government schemes should be designed with farmers in mind. In recognition of Chaudhary Charan Singh’s contributions to the nation, he was also honoured with the Bharat Ratna.

CM Yogi said that the Uttar Pradesh government is running several programmes for the benefit of farmers to keep the memory of Chaudhary Charan Singh alive. The construction of the Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park in Lucknow is a key initiative in this regard. Besides being a prominent politician, he also made significant contributions to the country and society. He passed away on May 29, 1987.
