CM Dhami orders completion of Kumbh 2027 preparations by October

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Saturday that preparations for Haridwar Kumbh, including the underground power supply and permanent constructions, will be over by October this year. He asked officials to ensure an adequate safety audit.
Speaking to the officials in Kumbh preparations progress meeting, the chief Minister directed them to complete all works related to the Haridear Kumbh 2027 must be completed within stipulated time. He ordered the department heads to ensure immediate compliance with the decisions taken pertaining to the Kumbh.

“All infrastructural development works for the Kumbh will have to be completed by October 2026. Approvals for permanent works have been granted and proposals for non permanent projects would be disposed off timely. Departments and agencies concerned must ensure that zonal and sectoral level preparations are over in time with quality works as per prescribed standards,” he said.

The chief minister directed the officials to conduct third-party audits for monitoring the construction projects. He ordered the Haridwar district administration and Kumbh officials to ensure underground power lines in the mela area before the commencement of the fair.

He instructed the officials to conduct a safety audit of all under-constructed and proposed permanent bridges and repair works in the Kumbh area. Dhami further asked Kumbh nodal officer Sonika to hammer out adequate means for coordination with officials of Uttar Pradesh if closure of the Ganga Canal is needed for the upkeep of mela ghats.

He said repair works at ghats, installation of safety railings, and anti-slip facilities must be put in place on time.

The chief minister emphasised effective and adequate arrangements for transport and parking during the mela along with exploring alternate routes for the movement of the devotees during mela.
