A delegation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in India visited the Central University of Jharkhand. The team included Yang Xiuhua (Counselor), Zhang Hailin (First Secretary), Fang Bin (Third Secretary), Dai Zerui (Attaché), and Li Qinyan (Attaché).
They were received at the Administrative Building by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kshiti Bhusan Das, along with senior faculty members. Prof. Das briefed the visitors on the teaching of Chinese language and culture at the Department of Far-East Languages and underlined the scope for strengthening academic links.
During the discussions, CUJ proposed an increase in scholarships for its students, including discipline-specific awards, expansion of exchange programmes to other departments, access to Chinese language books, subscription to the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and joint research projects. The university also suggested setting up a Chinese Language Lab and organising annual CUJ delegations to China.
The delegation was given a tour of the campus, attended cultural performances by students, and interacted with faculty and staff.
Present on the occasion were Prof. Shreya Bhattacharjee, Dean of the School of Languages, Prof. Manoj Kumar, Dean Academics, Registrar K. Kosala Rao, Finance Officer P. K. Panda, Controller of Examinations Dr. B. B. Mishra, Prof. Rabindranath Sarma, Head of the Department of Far-East Languages, and faculty members Dr. Arpana Raj, Dr. Sandeep Biswas, and Sushant Kumar.
