Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday said that the state is poised to enter a new phase of development, trust, and prosperity as it moves decisively towards becoming free of Maoist insurgency. The remark came on the government’s deadline day for achieving a Naxal-free Chhattisgarh.
Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma met the Chief Minister at his residence office in Nava Raipur and congratulated him on the progress achieved in curbing Maoist activity. Sharma presented a bouquet to CM Sai and described the moment as an important step in the state’s journey towards lasting peace.
Speaking during an interaction with the media, Sai said Maoist insurgency had, for years, remained the single biggest obstacle to Chhattisgarh’s development. He added that the Bastar region had borne the brunt of violence for decades. He noted that the situation is now changing rapidly, with development steadily reaching areas that were once considered among the most affected.
The Chief Minister said a new environment of peace, security, and development is taking shape across Bastar and other parts of the state, with visible improvements in the lives of ordinary people. He said that the strengthening of governance and public services in previously affected regions is beginning to yield tangible results.
Sai credited the achievement to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying their clear policy direction, firm resolve, and coordinated strategy have been instrumental in steering the state towards a decisive breakthrough. He said the vision of a fear-free and secure Chhattisgarh is now steadily becoming a reality.
Paying tribute to security personnel who lost their lives in anti-Naxal operations, the Chief Minister said their sacrifices had laid the foundation for the progress seen today. He also commended the courage, commitment, and professionalism of the security forces, noting that their sustained efforts under challenging conditions have been central to weakening the insurgency.
Expressing confidence about the future, Sai said that a Naxal violence-free environment would enable Chhattisgarh to move forward at a faster pace of development and strengthen its position among the country’s leading states. He added that the state is now entering a phase where peace and stability will translate into broader opportunities for growth and public welfare.
