Reaffirming his government’s commitment to the weavers’ welfare, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai extended greetings to the community and acknowledged their vital role in preserving the rich textile heritage of the state. Senior members of the Chhattisgarh Weavers’ Community met the Chief Minister at his official residence on National Handloom Day, presenting him with a symbolic handloom as a mark of respect and cultural pride.
Welcoming the delegation, Chief Minister Sai extended greetings to the community and said, “Handloom craftsmanship is not only an economic asset but also a living expression of our cultural identity.”
Highlighting ongoing government initiatives, CM Sai assured that his administration is working on multiple fronts to ensure the prosperity, empowerment, and self-reliance of weavers. These include efforts to reduce production costs, ensure steady access to raw materials, and enhance market linkages for handloom products. “Self-reliance unlocks the creative spirit of our weavers,” he said.
He also invoked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign, stating that the handloom sector must be celebrated as a symbol of India’s indigenous strength. “The weaving community has kept our cultural consciousness alive through devotion and artistry,” CM Sai said.
The visiting delegation presented a handcrafted replica of a traditional handloom machine to the Chief Minister. Accepting the gesture, he said, “This is not just a symbol of respect but a powerful representation of creation, tradition, and community values.”
The CM stated that Chhattisgarh will continue to prioritise policies that uphold its dignity and strengthen its livelihoods. “A new era of prosperity and empowerment for our weavers has begun,” he said.
