Senior Congress leader and former home minister Ramesh Chennithala called Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s statement that 144 police officers were dismissed from service during the LDF rule as part of disciplinary action a blatant lie.

Chennithala said the chief minister has deliberately lied and misled the House and the people. A privilege notice will be served on the him for misleading the House with wrong information.

The Congress leader dared Vijayan to release the list of all 144 police personnel he claims to have been dismissed from service.

He said 61 police personnel were dismissed from service as part of disciplinary action during the Oommen Chandy government. The Pinarayi Vijayan government dismissed those police personnel who had been absent from service for a long time.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau, less than 50 police officers have been dismissed since CM Vijayan took office in 2016. “However, the chief minister told the House that 144 police officers were dismissed from service during LDF rule. This is a blatant lie,” he said.

He said if the chief minister failed to place the list of all 144 police personnel who he claims to have dismissed, he should withdraw his claim and apologize for misleading the house.
