In his letter to the Defence Minister, Naidu wrote, “This will enable Andhra Pradesh to emerge as a key pillar in India’s defence and aerospace manufacturing ecosystem and significantly contribute to national security, indigenisation and self-reliance efforts.”

He also sought support for the upcoming Rs 2,400 crore worth strategic complex of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) at Palasamudram and the revival aluminium alloy plant of UADNL at Nellore. Naidu recently offered land and infrastructure for HAL’s expansion for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft and Light Combat Aircraft projects, just a few km away from Bangalore airport.
