Celebrations began at the BJP Headquarters in the national capital as trends indicated the party’s big win in the West Bengal assembly polls.
Party leaders, workers and supporters were seen distributing Jhalmuri, Bengali sweets and dancing to Dhol beats.
At around 5 pm, the BJP was leading in 197 seats, according to the trends and results for the Bengal polls, while AITC was in second place, leading in 90 seats.
Senior party leader Tarun Chugh and Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, along with party workers, took out a symbolic procession starting from the national BJP office to the Vistar Karyalya and then returned to the head quarters.
The party workers celebrated by dancing and applying colors, especially saffron, to each other.
A man, who identified himself as a party supporter with roots in Bengal, said that the BJP heading for a big win is a change the state’s people were looking forward to, noting it had been a long time since a party was in power in the state.
As trends favoured the BJP’s win in West Bengal, workers from different parts of the city and even the NCR began arriving at the headquarters. Preparations for decorations and mega celebrations started with the arrival of senior party leaders.
Meanwhile, 148 seats are required to form a government, and any party or a coalition needs this number to emerge victorious.
The TMC, on the other hand, seems to be facing defeat after holding power for three consecutive terms.
Meanwhile, Delhi ministers celebrated by eating Rasogulla and Jhalmuri, while Minister Parvesh Verma was seen distributing Jalebis to party workers.
The minister stated that the joy was shared with the workers through Jhalmuri and Jalebi, marking not just a celebration, but the triumph of the ideology founded by Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.

He added that after years of alleged misgovernance, fear, and politics of appeasement, the people are making a historic decision.
