The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the provisional schedule for the 2026 board examinations for Classes 10 and 12. According to the notification, the exams are expected to be held from 17 February 2026 to 15 July 2026.
In a circular issued here, Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, stated that the Board will conduct the Main Examinations for Classes 10 and 12, Examinations for Sports Students (Class 12), Second Board Examinations (Class 10), and Supplementary Examinations (Class 12).
Around 45 lakh students are expected to appear for the 2026 board exams, which will cover 204 subjects across Classes 10 and 12. The examinations will be conducted simultaneously in India and 26 other countries, the Board added.
“Alongside the conduct of examinations, several other activities such as practicals, evaluation, and post-result processes will be undertaken to ensure the timely declaration of results,” the release read.
The Board further stated that the tentative date sheet has been released to help students prepare structured study plans, allow schools to align academic and administrative activities—including teacher deployment for examination and evaluation duties—and enable teachers to plan personal schedules, including vacations, with greater clarity.
As a general guideline, evaluation of answer scripts will commence approximately 10 days after the conduct of each subject’s examination and will be completed within 12 days. For example, if the Class XII Physics examination is scheduled for 20 February 2026, evaluation is likely to begin on 3 March 2026 and conclude by 15 March 2026.
