The CBI, on Wednesday morning, raided the residence and office of IAS Abhay Singh, the District Magistrate of Bulandshahr.

No official statement regarding the raid has been given by the officials of the raiding team or the government but it is believed that the raid was conducted in connection with the mining scam reported during his tenure as DM Fatehpur during the reign of Akhilesh Yadav.

Similar raids were being conducted simultaneously at six other places in the state.

When asked, SP (city) Bulandshahar Atul Kumar Srivastava said that he also has received information about the raid at DM’s residence but has no further information.

The CBI sleuths reached the DM residence in Bulandshahr on Wednesday morning. The news of the raid created panic inside the DM house and the on duty staff avoided giving any statement regarding the developments. The media and visitors were not allowed to enter the residence while the raid was underway.

Though there is no definite information about the raiding team and the recovery made by them in the process, unconfirmed sources claim that the CBI has recovered huge amount of cash and a note counting machine was brought by them in the middle of the raid.

Abhay Singh, an IAS officer of the 2007 batch, was the DM of Fatehabad when the mining scam was reported. At that time, he allegedly gave away mining contracts unscrupulously.

Abhay Singh, who originally hails from Rajasthan, has held many important posts and took over the charge as DM Bulandshahr in February this year.
