CBI nabs DDA official in ₹50,000 bribery case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Dealing Assistant (DA) of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in connection with an alleged bribery case, sources said on Wednesday.

The federal investigating agency registered a case on Tuesday against the accused, alleging that he had demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 from the complainant in exchange for processing the freehold application for his shop.

On Wednesday, the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused DA red-handed while demanding ₹50,000 and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from the complainant.

Agency sources said further investigation is underway.

Recently, the CBI also apprehended an Executive Engineer (Civil) of the Public Works Department (PWD) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 from another complainant.

Following searches conducted in Delhi and Jaipur in connection with the accused, the agency recovered ₹1.60 crore in cash, property documents, and a bank account with a substantial balance. The investigation is ongoing.
