The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday announced the arrest of a Branch Manager and a Contractual Employee of the UP Gramin Bank in Azamgarh for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a man.

The CBI stated that it had registered a case on December 5 against the accused Branch Manager, Shravan Tandon.

The accused—Tandon and a contractual employee named Vishram—had allegedly demanded an undue advantage of Rs 25,000 as 10 per cent of a Kisan Credit Card loan of Rs 2,52,000 applied for by the complainant.

After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant.

The CBI laid a trap on December 6 and caught the Branch Manager and the Contractual Employee red-handed while demanding and accepting the undue advantage of Rs 20,000 from the complainant.

Both accused were arrested and later produced before a court.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
