A fresh political confrontation has erupted in Bihar after RJD leader and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi openly refused to vacate the government bungalow at 10 Circular Road despite receiving an official notice from the state government.

Speaking firmly amid the growing controversy, Rabri Devi declared that she would continue staying at the residence even if authorities attempted forcible eviction.

“They can call the force to vacate the place, but I will not vacate the place,” she said while addressing reporters in Patna.

Residence row turns political

The standoff comes a day after the Bihar government issued a formal notice directing Rabri Devi to vacate the high-profile government residence at 10 Circular Road. The bungalow has now been allotted to Nand Kishore Ram, the Bihar government’s Minister for Animal, Fisheries, and Dairy Resources.

According to the official communication, Rabri Devi has already been assigned another government accommodation in her capacity as the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council.

The notice stated that Quarter No. 39 at Hardinge Road had earlier been earmarked and allotted to her under departmental orders issued in November 2025.

Government cites official housing norms

Officials said the 10 Circular Road bungalow now falls under the category reserved for serving ministers, making its reallocation part of an administrative process linked to official entitlements.

Sources in the Building Construction Department maintained that the move was not politically motivated and called it a routine reshuffle carried out under government housing rules.

Authorities also stated that the alternative bungalow allotted to Rabri Devi has been prepared with all facilities, security arrangements, and official protocols available to former Chief Ministers.
