After the latest face-off with Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan over the Republic Day parade, BRS MPs will now raise the issue of misusing the Governor system by the Centre to oppose the elected governments in the non BJP states in the upcoming Budget session of the Parliament.
The party is also likely to boycott the President’s address at the commencement of the session like last year. This will be the first session of the BRS after the party changed its name from the TRS. This Parliament session will begin on 31 January and the BRS members will join MPs of other opposition parties to oppose the Centre’s policy.

Party supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today held a four-hour long meeting with the BRS Parliamentary Party to decide on the strategies that will be adopted by the party.

Rao directed his MPs to raise their voice on how governor’s were behaving undemocratically and the issue of sitting on key bills. The Telangana governor is sitting on eight key bills in the state and has neither given her assent, nor returned them to the Assembly.

The BRS MPs were told to oppose the “evil policies of using the system of governors for their own political interests. The governors were deliberately delaying the decisions taken by the state Cabinet, the legislative Assembly and the Council.”

The Chief Minister told the MPs to expose the Centre’s attitude and undemocratic policies of the Governor who is trying to obstruct governance and development in the state.

Apart from the issue of the Bills, the BRS is also upset after the Governor took part in the primetime debates in several television channels after the Chief Minister skipped attending the Republic Day ceremony with the Governor and instead held another separate ceremony at his camp office.

The MPs were also told to raise issues like the Central government’s “anti people” policies. Rao said the Centre was showing special affection to friendly corporates and waived off loans amounting to lakhs of crores.

He questioned how public sector companies like LIC invested in Adani Group and as a result lost lakhs of crores after the shares plunged.

The party MPs will raise the issue of denial of funds to the state and also the unfulfilled promises made during bifurcation of the state. Issues related to common man such as rising inflation, increasing fuel prices and growing unemployment will also be raised by the BRS MPs in both the houses of the Parliament.
