A key bridge in the Dzongu region of north Sikkim was washed away due to heavy overnight rainfall. This has significantly disrupted road connectivity in the area, officials informed on Sunday, June 28.
The bailey bridge over Phee Khola was washed away on Saturday night affecting movement on the Phidang to Sankalang stretch, PTI quoted officials as saying.

Several senior officials, including the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Mangan as well as local panchayat representatives, later reached the spot to assess the damage.
An official informed that a detailed inspection is underway. He added that the incessant rains have caused extensive damage in the Upper Kaw Khola area of Lingee in south Sikkim.
According to the latest bulletin by the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall was witnessed across one or two places in Sikkim, while light to moderate rainfall occurred in most parts of the Himalayan state in the past 24 hours till 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.
