After Nainital, Uttarkashi, and Tehri, the Dehradun District Court on Wednesday received a bomb threat mail with a demand to stop EWS reservation and Brahmin domination in Tamil Nadu. Security forces immediately swung into action but the threat proved a hoax as no explosives were detected on court premises.

The mail that was received by the office of district judge in the mail ID dj-dej-ua@nic.in sparked chaos in the court forcing administration to immediately evacuate the court campus. Police teams rushed to the spot and began searching every nook and corner of the court premises.

The threat email was received by the office of District Judge and subsequently forwarded to the district magistrate and police officials.

Dehradun SSP Parmendra Singh Dobhal reached the spot with specialised teams to carry out search operation. All the judges, advocates and other staff in the court premises were safely evacuated to safe locations and the entire area cordoned off. Police and administration officials felt relieved only after nothing was found in the search operation and the threat turned out to be a hoax.

The mail, as accessed, was sent through the ID cathodian@mail2tor.mail. Its salutation with the subject read: “Honourable judges, staff and media, five bombs made using C4 and Nitrate to blast today. Previous hoaxes were to study BDDS search techniques. Stop EWS reservation in Tamil Nadu and brahmin domination.”

It further read: “This is not a hoax. We want to make you alert for the holy Ramadan Day blast on Wednesday. Rename actor SV Shekhar House Street as Periyar-Ambedkar Street after the blast or more will activate in Nainital.”

Concluding line of mail tried to suggest the sender’s link with Pakistan. It ended with the statement, “Pakistan-DMK Model Zondabad! DMK IT Wing Chennai.”

Manmohan Kandwal, President of Dehradun Bar Association, confirmed that the office of the district judge was in receipt of a threatening email. He said “it alerted security personnel and the police. Police teams were still conducting an intensive search but no blast material was found. This incident is part of a series of bomb scare mail across the state in nearly a week. Similar bomb threats were previously sent to district courts in Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Nainital.”

Kandwal added that probes in the past threats rendered them to be hoax mails but caused significant chaos in the administration and the people.” Meanwhile police officials have stated that authorities and intelligence agencies are on high alert even as the threatening mail apparently was the handy work of anti-social elements attempting. According to SSP Dehradun police have launched a formal investigation into all these instances. He said that the guilty will be unearthed and not be spared.
