BMC warns fake housing beneficiaries of eviction, FIR

FIR

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday warned that anyone found securing a house through fraudulent means or by submitting forged documents would face eviction, legal action and registration of an FIR, as it allotted permanent houses to 114 eligible families under the Neelamadhab Housing Project at Chandrasekharpur locality.

The houses were allotted through a transparent lottery conducted in the presence of all beneficiaries.

The 114 families, drawn from more than 10 slums across the city, received their allotment letters at a programme attended by Mayor Sulochana Das, Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar, BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana, Housing Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mohanty and senior officials of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).

Mayor Das said a residents’ committee would be formed to manage the apartment complex and oversee its maintenance.

She also announced plans to develop a market complex and other infrastructure to improve the beneficiaries’ livelihoods.

Commissioner Rana assured that BMC would provide all necessary assistance during the relocation process, including drinking water, electricity and other essential civic amenities, to ensure a smooth transition for the beneficiary families.
