A high-intensity explosion at BSF Chowk sparked panic on Tuesday evening. Commissioner of Police (CP) Dhanpreet Kaur confirmed that the blast occurred around 8:00 PM involving an Activa scooter parked near the BSF gate.
The police have detained a youth identified as Gurpreet Singh, who owns the vehicle. Gurpreet’s father, who rushed to the scene, stated that his son works as a delivery boy for Flipkart and routinely enters the BSF campus for couriers.
Witnesses reported a deafening sound heard as far as PAP Chowk. The impact was so severe that the airbags of a passing car deployed instantly.
While the primary cause appears to be a fire leading to a blast in the scooter, CP Kaur stated that a thorough investigation is underway to rule out any foul play. The situation remains tense but under control.
