Speaking to journalists after the conclusion of polling for Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) by-elections on Sunday , Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said for the first time bypolls were held simultaneously in 12 wards of the civic body, creating an entirely new situation.
According to Sachdeva, generally the voter turnout in such local elections in the national capital happens to be low. The same trend was witnessed on Sunday.
The BJP leader said during the day, he personally visited seven wards. Based on the feedback received from workers from other places as well, he can say his party’s performance in these bypolls is going to be excellent.
Sachdeva stated that being an organization-driven party, the elections proved beneficial for the BJP. He claimed that across the wards, people were seen making beelines at the party’s booths to get their slips.
He also shared that all the BJP candidates paid visits to temples in the morning seeking the blessings of God before casting their own votes.
The Delhi BJP chief said he visited Chandni Chowk, Greater Kailash, Dhichaon Kalan, Dwarka B, Sangam Vihar A, Vinod Nagar, and Dakshinpuri wards to meet party workers.
He mentioned that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta cast her vote, along with her family, in her home ward, Shalimar Bagh, while MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat voted in Dwarka B ward, while Delhi BJP Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor voted in Chandni Chowk ward.
