Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has said that the ruling BJP dispensation would make more vigorous efforts for achieving rightful reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and the state assemblies and also seek explanation from the Congress and allies for “not walking the talk” on the issue.

Addressing a press conference here Sunday afternoon, Sharma also asserted that his party would ensure that the people teach a befitting lesson to the Opposition Congress in the elections. “The Congress and its INDI allies have for years been making mere lip service over this issue and cheating the half of the population of India, the Nari Shakti,on the pretext of the empowerment and reservation quota,” he added.

He said, “Their (Opposition) support for the unanimous adoption of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam 2023 in Parliament was also part of this approach that was aimed at buying time to keep on wearing the mask of champions of women empowerment.” When the opportune time to act came on April 17, 2026 for walking the talk on the issue, they back tracked and opted to defeat the constitution amendment bill in the lower house, he added.

In this way, the Congress’ act of “deceit” turned into a black day, the eventful Friday which was set to add a glorious golden leaf in the democratic history of India by giving reservation quota to women, the Chief Minister quipped. Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, BJP Mahila Morcha state president Rakhi Rathore and several women leaders were also present on the occasion.

Sharma said BJP workers will take to streets to expose the Congress-led INDI allies and their “deceitful act” among masses, would seek explanation from them for not walking the talk and ensure that the people do teach them a befitting lesson in the elections for their “anti women approach”.

Deploring the Opposition Congress, the Trinamool Congress, and DMK by names, the Chief Minister Sharma said the “dynasty”-based parties were so scared of their fate following passage of the Bills that nothing worked for winning their support.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had made several appeals, tried to respond with proper replies the queries from the Opposition and also guaranteed that no state in no way would suffer any loss numerically or politically due to this legislation, but, nothing worked and they remained unrelenting on their stance of opposing the motion.

The Chief Minister and the Union Minister have also given detailed accounts on the pro-women welfare initiatives and schemes being launched by the Narendra Modi led Centre since 2014 and the incumbent BJP government in Rajasthan since December 2023.

They also condemned the persistent “Anti Women” stance being towed by opposition since the era of Shah Bano case to recent times of Teen Talaq resolution.
