Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary and Punjab in-charge Nitin Nabin arrived in Ludhiana on Sunday to engage with party leaders, workers, and key stakeholders as the BJP intensifies its efforts to strengthen its organisational base in Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Nabin received a warm welcome from party workers at Jalandhar Bypass before proceeding to a series of scheduled engagements in the city.
His visit is being viewed as part of the BJP’s broader strategy to expand its political footprint in Punjab under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Addressing party workers upon his arrival, Nabin described Punjab as the land of saints, gurus, and spiritual traditions. He expressed confidence that the BJP would continue to expand its support base in the state. He said the party was committed to contributing to Punjab’s development and strengthening its presence across the region.
A major highlight of the visit is the inauguration of the BJP’s new office building, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Bhawan, in Ludhiana. Following the inauguration, Nabin is scheduled to interact with party workers and leaders at a large organisational meeting to discuss strategies for strengthening the party structure from the grassroots to the state leadership.
Party sources said the interaction will bring together office-bearers from mandal, district, and state units, as well as leaders who have previously contested elections. Discussions are expected to focus on organisational unity, outreach programmes, and preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly polls.
During the session, Nabin is also expected to encourage party workers to take central government initiatives and welfare schemes to the grassroots while emphasising the importance of coordinated efforts to expand the BJP’s presence in the state.
Later in the day, Nabin is scheduled to meet industrialists and business leaders at a special interaction in Ludhiana. The discussions will focus on challenges facing Punjab’s industrial sector, measures to boost investment, economic growth, and suggestions that could help shape the party’s future policy agenda for the state.
On June 22, Nabin is expected to meet noted agricultural economist Dr Sardara Singh Johl to discuss issues related to Punjab’s agrarian economy, challenges faced by farmers, and possible policy interventions. He will also interact with youth icons from various fields, including sports, entrepreneurship, and the arts, to gather feedback on aspirations and opportunities for young people in Punjab.
The visit will conclude with meetings of the Punjab BJP executive and the party’s core committee, where leaders are expected to deliberate on organisational priorities and long-term electoral strategy ahead of the next Assembly elections.
Ludhiana BJP district president Rajnish Dhiman described the visit as significant for the party’s plans in Punjab. He said Nabin would engage with representatives from different social, economic, and intellectual backgrounds to better understand public concerns and help strengthen the BJP’s efforts to emerge as a stronger political force in the state.
