Delhi BJP will next week formally launch its Assembly election campaign with the focus on a host of issues ranging from power, water, inflation, corruption to lack of development in rural areas, unauthorised colonies, JJ clusters and slums.
“A massive rally will be held at Talkatora Stadium on 17 September. That will mark the formal launch of the party’s election campaign,” Delhi BJP President Vijay Goel said today at a joint Press conference along with Leader of Opposition Vijay Kumar Malhotra here.
“For this, BJP has started a massive campaign through advertisements. Party workers will go from door to door explaining the misdeeds of the Congress government in the last 15 years,” Mr Goel said, adding that the party would also release a booklet with a “new vision” for Delhi.
BJP President Rajnath Singh and Delhi Assembly election in-charge Nitin Gadkari, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, National General Secretaries Amit Shah, Anant Kumar, Dharmendra Pradhan, Shahnawaz Hussain, Delhi election co-in-charge Navjot Singh Siddhu, among others, would kick- start the campaign.
Talking about Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s anointment as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, party leaders said that the move would boost their chances, “especially among the youth as Modi has a huge following among them”.
Mr Goel said Mr Modi would address a rally on 29 September at Japanese Park in Rohini.
