Kerala BJP former president K Surendran on Saturday said the LDF government’s declaration that the state is free from extreme poverty is a big fraud and a public relations stunt.

Speaking to the media at Thrippunithara in Kochi, Surendran said that the reason why people in Kerala are not starving to death is because of the benefits provided by the central government.

“People of Kerala are freed from starvation because of the Modi government’s schemes. The Modi government is providing 35 kg of rice to each poor family without the state government spending a single rupee. All the schemes for the poor are being provided by the Modi government,” Surendran said.

Meanwhile, BJP Kerala general secretary MT Ramesh said the declaration that the state has been made free from extreme poverty is the biggest fraud of this decade. He said that by the declaration, the LDF government is fooling the people of Kerala.

Ramesh demanded that the Chief Minister be prepared to clarify the details of the data, methodology, and criteria used to conclude that extreme poverty has been eradicated from the state.”
