The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday announced a fresh round of organisational appointments, naming new state unit presidents for Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Tripura ahead of a politically crucial phase for the party across several regions.

The appointments come as the BJP continues efforts to strengthen its state leadership structure and sharpen its organisational machinery in states with varying political challenges and electoral equations.

Harsh Malhotra has been appointed as the new president of the BJP’s Delhi unit, while Kewal Singh Dhillon will head the party in Punjab. In Haryana, the party has appointed Dr Archana Gupta as the new state president. Abhishek Debroy has been named president of the BJP’s Tripura state unit.

The changes are being seen as part of the BJP’s broader attempt to recalibrate leadership at the state level and energise cadre networks ahead of upcoming political battles.

Delhi remains a key focus area for the BJP after recent electoral contests intensified the political rivalry between the saffron party and the Aam Aadmi Party. Punjab, meanwhile, continues to be a challenging state for the BJP as it seeks to expand its independent footprint after its split with the Shiromani Akali Dal.

In Haryana, the leadership change comes amid continued political activity in the state following recent Assembly elections, while Tripura remains strategically important for the BJP in the Northeast where the party has aggressively expanded over the past few years.
