The ruling BJP legislator from Rajsamand, Deepti Maheshwari, was seriously injured in a road accident near Udaipur in Rajasthan on Friday midnight.
The two-time MLA was returning home in Udaipur from her constituency, Rajsamand, after attending various programmes last night when her car was hit by another car coming from the opposite side, near Amberi on Rajsamand-Udaipur Highway around 01:00 AM.
Maheshwari sustained multiple rib fractures, and she was rushed to a private Medical College Hospital in Udaipur, where she was being treated in the ICU ward.
The MLA’s driver and PA were also injured in the accident.
Four occupants of the car that caused the accident while taking a turn across the road divider were taken into custody, the police sources said.
According to a hospital spokesman, Maheshwari was now out of danger and was likely to be shifted from the ICU to the general ward by tonight.
Deepti Msheshwari is the daughter of three-time MLA from Rajsamand and former Lok Sabha MP Kiran Maheshwari. She was elected to the Rajasthan assembly from Rajsamand in a by-election in 2021 following the death of her mother. In the 2023 assembly elections, Deepti retained her seat for her second term.
