Several prominent leaders attending the BJP’s Central workshop for the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Training Maha Abhiyan-2026 have raised objections to pulling the hair of Brahmin students in Prayagraj during the Shankaracharya controversy.

Rajya Sabha member Laxmikant Bajpai said, “It is a grave sin to touch someone’s body without reason. Whoever did this must be punished. Worshipping the students may be a personal sentiment, but the Chief Minister has the authority to take action.” It is illegal to touch anyone’s body.”

Senior leader Prem Shukla said, “No citizen should be treated like this. Pulling the Shikha( hair) is extremely unfortunate. Action must be taken on this issue. If a sin has been committed, atonement must be found. Batuk Puja is our ancient tradition.”

Former MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi, calling the matter sensitive, said, “The issue of the Shikha of the Batuks is extremely sensitive. It must be resolved as soon as possible, as it is causing discord in society. Both Deputy Chief Ministers have said that an investigation is underway and further action will be taken. No one’s self-respect should be hurt. Whoever keeps the Shikha must have done so to follow the rules of religion.”

She further said, “The Shankaracharya issue has been much discussed. Every year, a gathering of saints and sadhus takes place in Prayagraj. According to the rituals, there is respect and a bathing. I don’t understand why this matter has become so big. We have been witnessing all this since childhood. If the administration has made any mistakes, they should admit it. If the Deputy Chief Minister is saying something, he should also accept it. The government should find a solution.”

BJP State Vice President Pankaj Singh said, “A training workshop is underway in Kashi. I don’t know exactly who said what. The government has also issued a clear position on the Prayagraj issue. The Chief Minister has dedicated his entire life to Sanatan Dharma. The entire country is familiar with his sacrifice, penance, and hard work.”

It is reported that more than 100 officials from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttarakhand are attending this workshop. Many senior party workers are also participating. This workshop focuses on strengthening the organization, propagating ideology, and developing upcoming election strategies.
